USC’s Keyshawn Bryant earns preseason All-SEC honors from conference coaches

South Carolina senior forward Keyshawn Bryant earned preseason second team All-SEC honors in a coach’s poll released by the conference on Tuesday.

The athletic 6-foot-6 forward is coming off his best season with Frank Martin’s Gamecocks, serving as a consistent bright spot on a 6-15 USC team that struggled with COVID-19 shutdowns.

Though primarily playing off the bench as Martin’s go-to sixth man, Bryant averaged 27 minutes in his 18 games and is the team’s top returning scorer and rebounder at 14.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Bryant elevated his game in SEC play last year, averaging 15.8 points and 5.9 rebounds, while also showing an improved mid-range jumper to go along with his high-flying dunking ability. Martin praised Bryant’s emergence as a leader late in the season, and Bryant should serve as a key scorer on this year’s revamped Gamecocks squad.
