This Is Us boss Dan Fogelman has announced that season 5's next episode is being pushed back due to "production delays".

The US drama usually airs Tuesday evenings on NBC, but ahead of its slot yesterday (January 19), he tweeted: "No new episode of #ThisIsUs tonight – Covid-related production delays in LA have forced us to delay a few weeks.

"But the next few are big ones, and we are close, so we hope you'll hang in there with us. Sorry!"

"That moment of release for Randall, and the idea that he had this encounter with his mom in the lake – we're not an overtly religious show, but it has spiritual overtones," he reflected.

"For him to have this recognition that this woman actually loved me, that I was the product of two people who loved me but circumstances conspired in such a way that they weren't able to share their love with me in a direct manner? I'm okay with that."

This Is Us airs on NBC in the US, while Amazon Prime Video carries the show in the UK.
