Every year soap fans are on tenterhooks to see which of their favourites will be named Best Soap during the awards season.

In previous years, it's often come down to a battle between EastEnders and Coronation Street – but now we finally have an answer.

A recent survey found that viewers would rather be transported to Weatherfield, with Corrie beating EastEnders in a poll of 2,000 adults by PerfectHome.

The ITV soap was ranked third on the list of the UK's all-time favourite TV shows, while EastEnders came in at number 13.

Emmerdale just sneaked into the Top 20 at number 19.

But when it comes to the best TV show of all time, it was a British classic that took the top spot.

Only Fools and Horses was named the ultimate show that Brits just can't get enough of, despite it not being on air since 2003.

Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst first graced TV screens in 1981 as the iconic characters Del Boy and Rodney Trotter.

The show, based in Nelson Mandela House in Peckham, ended in 1991 but aired several Christmas specials up until 2003.

Jason and Lyndhurst also reunited in 2014 for a Sport Relief special featuring David Beckham.

Game of Thrones appears to have made a huge effect on UK audiences too, taking the second spot on the list.
