Before Marilyn has a chance to explain to Ty that she has brought Jodi back to the Bay with her, Ty and Raffy cross with her on the beach. The recognition in their eyes is clear. Shocked and startled upon confronting his mother, Ty flees before she has a chance to speak to him. John and Marilyn then work to comfort a distressed Ty as Marilyn explains that this is her fault – she invited Jodi here to meet him. Marilyn states her case, encouraging Ty to give his mum a chance.

With the Palmers there to support him, Ty bites the bullet and gives his mum a chance to explain. Jodi tells Ty the truth about his grandparents and how they kept her away from him. She regrets not fighting harder for him, but conveys the heartbreaking truth that she never stopped loving him – she just started to believe that maybe his grandparents were right and he was better off without her.

Ty returns to Marilyn and John feeling overwhelmed. He needs time to think about whether he wants to take Jodi up on her offer and let her be a part of his life. Despite the happy ending, John still isn't ready to completely forgive Marilyn just yet.
