A light rail train derailed Thursday in Sacramento’s River District area, injuring three people, Sacramento Regional Transit and emergency authorities said.
All injuries were minor. Two people were transported to hospitals, and one was treated at the scene and released, Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Capt. Justin Sylvia said.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. near North 7th and North B streets, just north of the Railyard neighborhood, the Sacramento Police Department and RT said in tweets just after 1:20 p.m.
The light rail’s Green Line is suspended in the area, “while crews fix an issue with a light rail vehicle near 7th & North B Streets,” RT tweeted. A bus bridge was put in place.
The intersection is closed to motorists as well, police said.
