Two new but different restaurants owned by the same Houston County family to open soon

Grand opening dates are set for two new but different franchise restaurants owned by the same Houston County family.

The new Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders in Warner Robins is expected to be the first to open, with its grand opening set for Dec. 5.

“Basically, we’re super excited to bring this brand,” said Danny Rosales, who bought the rights for three Huey Magoo’s sites in Houston County and two in Florida in the Palm Coast area. ”We’ve had a great reception ever since we moved here back in ‘96.

“Warner Robins, Houston County, has been a good place for us to raise our family. And we’re excited about opening the store with our family. I mean, this is a family operated business. So it’s me, my wife and my kids definitely involved.”

Rosales and his wife, Trinette, also have franchise rights for multiple Jersey Mike’s Subs locations, with their new Perry location set to open Dec. 14.

Their daughter, Alexis Rosales, manages their Jersey Mike’s locations, he said. Their son, Jacob Rosales, who’s also a professional off-road racer, will help open their first Huey Magoo’s in Warner Robins and may over time move into managing their Huey Magoo’s restaurants.

The Rosales family also is opening a Jersey Mike’s Subs on Dec. 7 in Dawsonville.

That’s three new restaurants within 10 days.

The new Huey Magoo’s

The new 2,400-square-foot restaurant at 711 Lake Joy Road in Warner Robins offers dine-in, takeout, a drive thru and a patio. It employees about 70 people, many who are full-time, Rosales said.

“We feel we have a very good product, and we feel we got the right people in place for it,” he said.

Huey Magoo’s offers fried and grilled chicken tender meals, sandwiches, salads, wraps and dipping sauces.

According to the company website, “each tender is always made fresh, all natural, with no antibiotics ever, no hormones, no steroids and no preservatives.”

Rosales considers their product to be “the filet mignon of chicken tenders.”

The new Huey Magoo’s is located next to the new Arby’s, which opened Oct. 31. The first Huey Magoo’s in Middle Georgia was opened by a different franchise group in April 2021.

More Huey Magoo’s

The Rosales family plans to get their new Warner Robins location off the ground first before moving to their next store. That said, they’ve already purchased the property for their second location in Perry and are considering locating their third Huey Magoo’s off a main thoroughfare in Warner Robins.

The Perry location is expected to be built on vacant lot near McDonald’s in the Publix shopping center off the Perry Parkway and will likely open in 2023.

“It’s east of the McDonald’s,” Rosales said. “Basically, when you turn it into the shopping center where McDonald’s is … McDonald’s is on your right. We’re going to be on the left on the corner.”

Their Huey Magoo’s in Warner Robins is expected to open in 2024.

“It’s gonna be on Watson Boulevard somewhere. We’re not sure yet,” Rosales said. “With the Huey Magoo’s, this is our first store, we’re kind of taking it one step at a time.”

Jersey Mike’s

Their new Jersey Mike’s in Perry is at 1506 Sam Nunn Blvd. within a new building, which also houses the new Dunkin’ that opened over the Labor Day weekend.

Two other spaces within the building are available for lease. The new Jersey Mike’s and the Dunkin’ are on opposite sides of the building.

Billed as a “sub above,” the meats and cheeses for Jersey Mike’s are sliced fresh to order and their bread is baked fresh in-house daily.

New Jersey Mike’s in Macon

Rosales said he expects to open three Jersey Mike’s next year, including possibly the one planned for Macon on vacant land near the new Sonny’s BBQ and Rock N Roll Sushi off Zebulon Road.

The new Jersey Mike’s is expected to be in a building to be constructed adjacent to the new building that houses the Rock N Roll Sushi, Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Piedmont Urgent Care.

“They’re going to build another center right beside it,” Rosales said. “We’ll be going in there.

“I think it’s far enough away from the other Jersey Mike’s off of Riverside, and what I’ve noticed about people in Macon is … people off Zebulon, they stay off of Zebulon and people off of Riverside and River Crossing stay on that side. So, I’m hoping to capture that market over there.”
