Twitter reacts to Pizza Hut Japan’s new cilantro-covered pizza: ‘NO NO NO!’

Cilantro can be a pretty polarizing herb. While some people love the unique taste it adds to a dish, others routinely pick around it or even get grossed out if they spot some garnishing their food.

But apparently, enough people love the leafy greens in Japan that Pizza Hut restaurants all over the country have launched a “Too Much Cilantro” pizza for a limited time only.

Based on an image shared by Pizza Hut Japan, the new menu item looks exactly how it sounds.

“The moment you open the box, you’ll be surprised by the fragrance,” stated a press release obtained by Hypebae. “It’s a non-standard amount of cilantro to which Gen Z can’t help but say: ‘Wow, it’s like grass is growing.'”

But cilantro isn’t the only thing that tops this pizza — it also has a layer of tomato sauce and “yangnyeom” (Korean for “sauce”), as well as shrimp.

As news of the pizza continues to sweep Twitter, people have been both appalled and intrigued.

“NO NO NO!” tweeted one person in defiance.

“Hard pass on that one,” added someone else. “Not even the promise of whiskey would help.”

Some also questioned whether the marketing attempt to attract Gen Z was hit-or-miss.

But other Twitter users who are clearly cilantro fans said they’d absolutely give it a try if they could.

“There is never too much cilantro,” one Twitter user declared.

“I would definitely try this, but it’s only available in Japan,” someone else lamented.

This isn’t the first time Pizza Hut has introduced an eyebrow-raising menu item. According to Mashed, the company also debuted a Marmite Stuffed Crust Pizza in 2014 exclusively in New Zealand and even a Hot Dog Bites Pizza in the U.S. in 2015, though that didn’t stick around for long.

If you happen to visit Japan soon, the pizza is available at Pizza Hut through April 9.
