Disgruntled Congress leader and close confidant of Rahul Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, resigned from the Congress on Tuesday morning, minutes after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, sending shockwaves through the nation’s political arena.
Scindia, in his resignation letter addressed to Congress presdient Sonia Gandhi, said: "...this is a path that has been drawing itself out over the last year. While my aim and purpose remain the same as it has always been from the very beginning, to serve the people of my state and country, I believe I am unable to do this anymore within this party," he wrote.
No sooner did he quit the Grand Old Party, than the Congress ‘expelled’ him from the party for ‘anti-party activities’.
The developments however sent Twitterverse into a tizzy, with some funny and some not-so-charitable tweets commenting on the high-profile exit. Here are a few:
At this rate, maybe Rahul Gandhi will also join the BJP !— Nidhi Razdan (@Nidhi) March 10, 2020
Mr Scindia has betrayed the trust of the people as well as the ideology. Such people proves they can’t thrive without power. Sooner they leave the better.— Ashok Gehlot (@ashokgehlot51) March 10, 2020
OMG! So Jyotiraditya Scindia and 19 other politicians in the Congress party were also “Hindu fascists”? 😱😭— Aarti Tikoo Singh (@AartiTikoo) March 10, 2020
Arrey bhai, how many more “Hindu Nazis” are there in the grand old party of India? Roz roz shock mat do. Ek hi baar bata do, ! 🤔🙏
Former Foreign Minister Natwar Singh: I am not surprised that Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from Congress & will join BJP. I feel he will be sent to Rajya Sabha & inducted into Union Cabinet. Can't blame Jyotiraditya. No one continues to work in a company that has ceased to grow, has refused to accept change, and has been stubborn like an oak at the top. Soon enough, Congress would be only the Gandhis and their sparse chamchas. #JyotiradityaScindia— Nauman (@itsnaumi) March 10, 2020
BJP had promised Congress-mukt India.— Ramesh Srivats (@rameshsrivats) March 10, 2020
But we seem to have got Congress-mukt Scindia.#JyotiradityaScindia

Heartening to see old colleague, & very dynamic Sri @JM_Scindia having come to the fold of @BJP4India, a party that's a rangoli of all colors & believes in taking everyone along.
We shall have a great time together #JyotiradityaScindia ji.#MadhyaPradesh

Why hv U not tweeted on #JyotiradityaScindia ?
Plz allocate the blame for his avoidable exit between #SoniaGandhi ji, #Congress old guards & you
Wud U now finally muster courage to salvage the party with help of Young Turks? pic.twitter.com/nq6kotWhM0
If people sell their conscience and compromise their ideology for power, what is a family supposed to do? All these big leaders became big because of this family called Congress. To blame the party is both shallow, mean & opportunistic!— Salman Nizami (@SalmanNizami_) March 10, 2020

I would actually back #JyotiradityaScindia in these times. He is showing real #leadership here. he has rejected slavery and has applied his independent mind. kept 14 MLAs with him. we can never make a right decision, we can only make a decision and make it go right! 🙏
