Twitter Frenzy Over Tom Cruise's 'Puffy' Face At The BAFTAs

It wasn’t just Tom Cruise’s surprise appearance at the BAFTAs this year that got people talking… it was also the appearance of his face.

Movie fans took to the social network to discuss the 53-year old actor’s mug, some speculating that he could have had some kind of recent treatment.

He did look somewhat transformed as he took to the stage to present the award for Best Film to Alejandro G Iñárritu’s ‘The Revenant’.

Broadcaster Murial Grey chimed in: “Tragedy of Tom Cruise having ruined his lovely face, that was ageing beautifully, is that it’s gone for ever now like the Bamiyan Buddahs.”

Ruth Davidson, Leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, added: “Tom Cruise’s face. I don’t know what he’s doing to it, but he’s beginning to look like a late-90s era Sandi Toksvig. #EEBAFTAs.”

In his introduction, host Stephen Fry joked that Cruise had been found sleeping backstage – he also presented a gong at last year’s ceremony.

Cruise, meanwhile, has always maintained that he would never consider any kind of cosmetic procedure.

He told Playboy in 2012: “I haven’t, and I never would.”

    Markets (^DJI, ^IXIC, ^GSPC) are moving lower on Thursday, reacting to a weaker-than-expected GDP print for the first quarter.
