Trudeau attends Quebec mosque attack commemoration
STORY: Attending an emotional commemoration at the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center, where gunman Alexandre Bissonnette shot dead six Muslims after evening prayers, Trudeau said it was the duty of Canadians to continuously reassert their values.
“Canada is a place of openness and respect,” he said, “and it will not continue without effort, without each of us knowing that it is our individual and collective responsibility to speak up, to reach out, to be there for each other.”
Following Trudeau's speech, an Imam recited a prayer. The names of the victims were then read out and a moment of silence was observed.
