I Tried Ted Lasso's Biscuit Recipe—and It's Just as Delightful as the Show

I was a little late to the game with Ted Lasso, but I've fallen in love with the football coach and his plucky band of soccer—er, football—players. And so I happened upon the perfect accompaniment when I finally binged my way to the season 2 finale—a cup of "garbage water" (aka tea) and biscuits.

The Ted Lasso crew released the shortbread recipe they use for "Biscuits for the Boss" and it's incredibly easy to make. (And it's been all over TikTok and the internet ever since.) Odds are you already have everything you need in the kitchen right now—it's just 2 sticks of butter, a pinch of salt, 3/4 cup confectioner's sugar, and 2 cups of flour.

  1. Cream the butter until it's light and fluffy (about two minutes) and then add the confectioner's sugar and beat until even lighter and fluffier.

  2. Add the salt and flour, and mix until just combined. (The dough will be pretty dense!)

  3. Pat the dough into a buttered 8-inch or 9-inch square pan, and let it chill in the fridge for a half hour. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

  4. Pre-slice the biscuits into squares or rectangles, and bake until golden and firm at the center. (That took about 50 minutes for me.)

The Ted Lasso biscuits were very rich and buttery, and simply divine fresh out of the oven with a cup of tea.

If you wanted to tweak it a little, you could try dressing them up a little with some herbs (rosemary or lavender would be great), or a teaspoon of vanilla extract or cinnamon might be nice as an add-in. You could also dip one edge of them in dark chocolate and chopped nuts and turn it into something even more decadent. (Maybe as a great homemade gift for your favorite Ted Lasso fan for the holidays—packed in a pink box just like on the show?)

But honestly, my whole family was in love with them just the way they are—kinda like they are about Ted Lasso, too.
