Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong in recent days.

The Dutchman joined Barcelona in a big-money move in 2019, but has not been able to hit the heights expected of him at the Nou Camp.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer has downplayed the rumours though and suggested that the German club are not looking to do any January business.

“We have a very, very strong team - and I don’t see any reason why we should still do something in winter”, Hainer told Sky Germany.

The idea of anybody having the resources capable of pulling Pep Guardiola away from Manchester City is outlandish of course but, according to The Sun, the Spaniard could be in line for a new offer.

Obviously, given his history with Johan Cruyff, it is a romantic notion.
