Trace Adkins and Kim Coates Square Off in the Trailer for New Western 'Stagecoach' (Exclusive)

Your past has a way of catching up with you — especially if that past includes shooting another man’s eye out.

In the new Western Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story, former gunslinger Nathaniel Reed (country music star Trace Adkins) has settled into a quieter, domesticated life as rancher. That is until Calhoun (Son of Anarchy‘s Kim Coates), the man Reed once popped in his peeper and who has since become a U.S. Marshall, comes seeking an eye for an eye… if not more.

As you see from the exclusive trailer above, it’s then Stagecoach (no relation to the 1939 John Ford-John Wayne classic) turns into a good-ol’ fashioned shoot ’em up as Reed rediscovers his outlaw alter ego of “Texas Jack” and battles Calhoun and his cavalry head-on.

Written by Matt Williams and Dan Benamor and directed by Terry Miles (Dawn Rider), Stagecoach is based on the story of real-life outlaw Nathaniel “Texas Jack” Reed (not to be confused with Wyatt Earp associate “Texas Jack Vermillion”), an 19th century bandit who was called one of the most notorious outlaws of Indian Territory before leaving his life of crime behind and becoming an evangelist.

The film marks the latest acting project for the chart-topping singer Adkins, who memorably voiced the redneck Elvin Mackleston on Fox’s King of the Hill and has since appeared in the drama The Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew McConaughey and the Western Traded opposite Kris Kristofferson.

Coates, who wrapped his seven-year ride as Tig Trager on FX’s beloved biker thriller Sons of Anarchy in 2014, can also currently be seen in the Sundance drama The Land.

Stagecoach, which also costars Judd Nelson, Michelle Harrison, Garry Chalk, and Helena Marie, opens in theaters and on VOD Nov. 4. Check out the film’s poster:
