Toyota Land Cruiser Will 'Likely' Return to U.S., Exec Says

Toyota killed the Land Cruiser in America in 2021. The company still sells the iconic SUV in other markets, but only offers the Lexus version, the LX600, here in the States. But according to a MotorTrend interview with a Toyota executive, we could see the Land Cruiser nameplate return to our shores.

When asked if Toyota would ever bring the Land Cruiser back to U.S. showrooms, Toyota Motor North America Executive Vice President of Sales Jack Hollis gave MotorTrend a promising answer.

"Will we ever? I would say likely yes."

"Obviously Land Cruiser is such an important part of our heritage and has done such a great job," Hollis added. "And I'll be looking at it, absolutely. Have I seen designs, thoughts, and hopes, yes. But nothing to announce. It's still a ways off."

Considering the timing, we're doubtful Toyota plans to bring the current Land Cruiser to our shores. As MotorTrend points out, any future Land Cruiser product for America would likely come after the current J300's lifecycle, which means a hybrid or full-electric vehicle of some kind. That's all speculation at this point, however. We'll have to be patient to see what Toyota really has in store.
