At least 19 dead as tornado tears through Tennessee

At least 19 people are dead after a tornado tore through Tennessee. The tornado touched down in Nashville early Tuesday morning, collapsing businesses and homes throughout the city.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said that a number of people are still missing, and while there was no information on the total number of people injured, Lee said that 30 rescue workers had suffered injuries, according to USA Today. The governor also declared a state of emergency.

Since Tennessee is one of the states that will be voting on Super Tuesday, several polling stations had to be relocated at the last minute.

At least 48 structures have collapsed as a result of the tornado, the Nashville Fire Department said. U.S. President Donald Trump will be touring the storm-damaged areas of Nashville and other impacted areas of Tennessee on Thursday.
