Yahoo Movies Top Gear series 34 filming cancelled after Freddie Flintoff accident
The BBC has cancelled filming on the 34th series of Top Gear due to Freddie Flintoff's accident.
Flintoff was taken to hospital in December after an on-set accident at the test track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey. Filming was subsequently suspended pending his condition.
More than three months on from the accident, BBC News reports that show bosses have decided to shelve the entire series.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: "Under the circumstances, we feel it would be inappropriate to resume making series 34."
The statement continued: "We have sincerely apologised to Freddie and will continue to support him with his recovery.
"We understand this [halting the show] will be disappointing for fans, but it is the right thing to do, and we'll make a judgement about how best to continue later this year."

The BBC has also confirmed that it is undertaking a safety review in order to prevent future accidents of this type from occurring.
This news is likely to come as a surprise to Top Gear fans since Paddy McGuinness had posted a positive update on his co-star days after the crash.
"[Flintoff] is loved and will be up and [at 'em] before you know it," McGuinness wrote on Instagram.
"The three of us are back this Sunday with more new @topgear including a trip to Italy, best family cars and our very own postal service! Obviously we filmed this ep earlier in the year."

Flintoff has had close calls in the past while filming Top Gear. In 2019, he crashed out while driving through Mansfield town centre — and then an ambulance was called during another incident on set later that year.
The second incident involved Freddie overshooting the runway while driving a super-powered Time Bandit at Elvington Airfield.
Top Gear fans will have to wait until at least later this year for news on when filming could potentially resume.
