Top 5 high school football games to watch in Week 6 around the Fort Worth area

Looking for a good high school football game to watch in Week 6, but don’t want to travel far.

We have the top games in the Fort Worth area right here:

Grapevine (3-1) vs. Colleyville Heritage (3-1)

7 p.m. Friday, Mustang-Panther Stadium

The Battle of the Red Rail takes off this week with the state ranked and area ranked Mustangs and Panthers. But it has been a bit one-sided as of late in favor of Heritage.

The Panthers beat Grapevine 42-7 in last year’s season opener. The Panthers won the rivalry game for the third straight season and ninth time in 11 years.

The game will be live streamed online by Mike Leslie and WFAA.

Both teams are averaging over 40 points per game. Heritage has given up 73 points in four games while Grapevine has given up 94.

It’ll be closer than 2021, but still give me Colleyville, 35-28.

Dallas Christian (5-0) at Fort Worth Christian (4-0)

7 p.m. Friday

In one of the few undefeated matches in the metroplex this week, Dallas Christian, No. 2 in the private school state rankings, visits Fort Worth Christian, No. 2 in the Fort Worth-area private school rankings.

The Chargers’ defense has been good this year, allowing just over 16 points per game. Offensively, the team has rushed for 1,220 yards led by Zach Hernandez, who has 13 rushing touchdowns.

The Cardinals have scored 171 points through four games, averaging 42 points per contest.

This will be a shootout. Give me the home team, FWC 45-42.

Fort Worth Wyatt (4-0) vs. Fort Worth Arlington Heights (4-0)

7 p.m. Friday, Farrington Field

The Fort Worth ISD will also see two undefeated teams kick off with the Wyatt Chaparrals and Arlington Heights Yellowjackets.

Wyatt hasn’t been 4-0 since 2017 while you have to go back to 2014 for Heights’ last 4-0 start.

Watch for Wyatt QB Kaid Barrett and Heights’ RB Brian Furch to lead both offenses.

Heights will have just a little more juice. Give me the Yellowjackets 33-25.

Mansfield Timberview (5-0) vs. Birdville (3-1)

7 p.m. Friday, Birdville FAAC

In this district match up, the Wolves, No. 2 in the state and No. 2 in the 5A area rankings, will visit the Hawks, who already have matched last season’s win total and off to their best start since 2018.

Birdville’s defense is giving up 15 a game and only nine points combined through two district wins.

But Timberview enters Week 6 already with 292 points scored and also allowing 15 points per game. The Wolves have allowed 14 points combined in two district wins.

Timberview continues its hot start, give me the Wolves 45-28.

Fort Worth Trimble Tech (2-2) vs. Fort Worth Southwest (2-2)

7 p.m. Thursday, Clark Stadium

The Bulldogs and Raiders enter the week with identical records, 2-2 overall and 0-1 in district. Both teams look to rebound from district openers, Southwest lost to Wyatt 14-6 while Tech took it on the chin against Colleyville Heritage.

The Southwest D has been good as the Raiders are allowing 17 points per game.

But will they be able to stop Tech’s rushing attack led by QB Trent Honeycutt and RB Antonio Anderson, who have combined for over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Give me the edge to Tech, 28-27.
