The Titans have done something unseen in Patrick Mahomes’ time with KC Chiefs

Everyone west of the Eastern Time Zone had the chance to watch the Chiefs game Sunday against the Titans in Nashville on CBS.

There’s a good chance, more than a few of those people turned away at halftime or shortly before.

The Chiefs were dominated in opening 30 minutes of Sunday’s game as the Titans rolled to a 27-0 lead. Sometimes the score doesn’t tell the whole story, but this time it did.

The turnover issues that plagued the Chiefs in the first six weeks of the season continued as quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception and lost a fumble.

Tennessee had an advantage in plays run (43 to 18), first downs (10 to 4), time of possession (23:16 to 6:44) and total yards (277 to 67). The Titans also scored on all six first-half possessions.

ESPN Stats & Info noted the halftime deficit was the largest of Patrick Mahomes’ career, including the playoffs. ESPN also said Mahomes has thrown at least one interception in six straight games, the longest streak of his career.

Pro Football Focus noted it was only the eighth time in Chiefs franchise history that they’d trailed by 27 or more points after 30 minutes.
