Yahoo Movies The New Tissot Is for Life, Not Just Till the Next Tissot
For some time, Tissot has proffered really great, really well-made Swiss watches, but just for a bit less. There are a lot of them, too: smartwatches, cycling watches, gym watches, pilot watches, and classic everyday watches. All of that makes Le Locle-based manufacture a regular entry in the ongoing countdown of the best watches ever made. But, with the release of the new PRX-40-205, there is, perhaps, one Tissot to rule them all – and one you can safely commit to till the end of days.
Based on an archival Tissot piece from the late Seventies, the new PRX range is the ultimate in low-key, slim-line quartz watches. It's steel for a start, which shows off far less than yellow gold or bronze (but has no less impact). And to the dial, narrow hour markers, Tissot branding, a date window to 3 o'clock and the eponymous PRX stamped out towards 6 o'clock... And that's sort of it? In an age when watches can be over-engineered to within an inch of their live, the PRX-40-205 shows that simply does it.
That makes it the sort of watch that sort of goes with everything. Stainless steel can sit with suits just as well as the stuff of a weekend, and just as the whole Seventies reaches fever pitch (flared suits, safari creams, big softcore director sunglasses et al), it's probably one of the easiest ways into the trend. Plus, it'll last till the next big Seventies renaissance, too.
Inside, expect a highly precise quartz movement, but if you're more of an automatic sort of guy, sit tight until a late 2021 release which will see the PRX-40-205 refitted with a new stomach. We're sure the current iteration will more than suffice, though.
