This tiny home is Airbnb’s No. 1 new property in New Mexico. Here’s what guests said

A charming home has landed on a coveted list when it comes to vacation rentals.

And it’s all of 432 square feet.

The “Happy Tiny House Hideway” tucked in Carlsbad, New Mexico was named the No. 1 new host in the state by Airbnb, an honor in the short-term rental community that the website doesn’t take lightly.

In order to nab the coveted spot in each state, new hosts had to start accepting guests this year, had the most check-ins within the state and already earned “Superhost status,” a news release from Airbnb said.

Super host Rebecca Burkeen told Carlsbad Current-Argus that she was surprised when guests began booking the one-bedroom home as soon as she listed it.

“As soon as we posted it, as soon as we listed it on Airbnb, within the first two hours it had already been booked for five nights,” Burkeen said to Carlsbad Current-Argus.

The home gives new meaning to the expression “small but fierce,” thanks to interior that has full-sized amenities including a refrigerator, shower and stove.

And there’s a reason why this little place is making such a large impact. The rental has maintained a 4.96 rating and has almost 150 reviews from ecstatic guests.

“This is a cute, small place,” one guest said. “It was spotlessly clean. Everything was well maintained and easy to find and use. It is great for one or two people. I highly recommend it and would gladly stay here again.”

Burkeen said that she was over-the-moon when she heard about the announcement.

“I was excited. I was shocked, everything at the same time,” she said to Carlsbad Current-Argus. “Even doing everything I can I figured there were other nice properties in New Mexico.”

The property has enough room for two guests and is available to rent for $61 a night.

Carlsbad is in southeastern New Mexico near the Texas border, about 160 miles from El Paso.
