Timelapse Shows Heavy Snow Accumulation During Ottawa Storm

A winter weather travel advisory was issued for Canada’s capital city Ottawa on Tuesday, January 18, after a record-breaking storm impacted the province of Ontario the day prior.

Timelapse footage filmed by Ottawa resident Harrison Ruess shows snow piling between 3 am to 7 pm on Monday, he said. “16 hours into 1 minute,” he wrote in a tweet. “Got approximately 32 centimeters.”

Up to 10 centimeters (3.9 inches) of snow was forecast to accumulate into Wednesday, when hazardous road conditions were expected in the evening, according to Environment Canada. Credit: Harrison Ruess via Storyful
