TikToker’s Are Saying "Mewing" Will Give You the Perfect Jawline — But Does It Work?

"Mewing" has the beauty side of TikTok in a chokehold because of its supposed ability to instantly define and contour the jawline. But does it really work? Is it safe? Let's have a deeper dive.

Amassing over 1.9 billion views, #Mewing involves the person lifting their tongue to the roof of the mouth, closing the lips and holding the position. TikTokers are convinced that this will give you the Bella Hadid appearance of the jawline. While they aren't entirely wrong, dentists and other medical and cosmetic professionals warn against it. Some dental hygienists advise that too much of this will misalign the teeth and cause further damage to your mouth. This may be true, but anything for that perfect structure, right?

Overall the practice of mewing won't give you those long-lasting results, but it will give you a quick appearance fix in those Instagram selfies. If you're mewing, please be safe and keep those teeth in mind as you don't want to receive a bad grade from your dentist.
