From “old money” to “coastal grandmother,” TikTok is home to the creation of trending aesthetics. Now, “Plazacore” (or occasionally “Plaza Princess) is the latest aesthetic steadily growing on the app.
The “Plaza” part of both terms references the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York City. Known for its lavish rooms and high-profile guests, the Plaza Hotel is synonymous with Manhattan, luxury and exclusivity. And who is the fashionista famous for wreaking havoc within its famous halls? Eloise, of course!
Eloise is the main inspiration for this aesthetic with her signature black and white uniform, constantly decked out in accessories and with the attitude to pull it all off.
TikTok user @gab_nyc says that you can “think of [the look] as Eloise all grown up with a little sprinkle of [Blair Waldorf] and, if you’re cultured, [American Girl Doll Samantha Parkington].” She adds that the women embodying this aesthetic are “elegant and eccentric, ladylike with a strong personality. Her outfits are unexpected but still rooted in tradition, like afternoon time and buying out Bergdorf’s.”
User @mere.sch also made a video about the trend and shared how she thinks Eloise would dress in her 20s: “Her uniform would be a flowy dress with puffy sleeves and a frilly collar… Her closet’s filled with ballet flats and mary janes.”
If you’re ready to channel your version of the beloved character and become a Plaza Princess, keep scrolling to shop 12 styles that will help you nail this ultra-feminine aesthetic.
A nap dress is a staple in any Plaza Princess’ wardrobe. You can dress this powder blue lace confection up or down, and it comes in pink, white and black.
2. Chinese Laundry Teemara Dress Sandal, $79.95
These black platforms are the best way to balance out an overly frilly look. Available in sizes 5-11, the platform sole keeps the almost four-inch heel comfortable.
3. J.ING White Puff Sleeve Ruffle-Trimmed Collar Mini Dress, $44.99 (Orig. $59.99)
Anything with a lace collar fits this feminine trend perfectly. The puff sleeves, tiny buttons and gathering at the waist are just a few standout details of this mini. Pro tip: Size up in this style!
This white and pink sleep set will make any night slumber party worthy. If you want to go the extra mile, you can add an embroidered monogram.
5. Cider Pink Lady Blazer and Button Up Skirt, $32 and $24
Wear this coordinating set to your next afternoon tea date or while running errands around town. Shop the matching bustier for a complete matched set, or wear a white tee or silk tank under the blazer.
This blouse features a large Peter Pan collar and sweet white button detailing. Pair it with your favorite blue jeans and flats for a simple but chic look.
7. Birdies The Songbird, $120
Speaking of flats, these pink velvet slides from Birdes are as comfortable as they are whimsical. But don’t let the pompom fool you — these shoes will go with almost any outfit.
8. Free People Yoko Bow, $24
A classic hair accessory is essential when channeling the Plazacore aesthetic. This black pleated bow has a French barrette closure and also comes in green, pink, blue and ivory.
9. Coach Outlet Mini Dempsey Bucket Bag, $139 (Orig. $278)
While a little black crossbody or top handle purse fits the trend, this lilac bucket bag has the touch of eccentricity that Plazacore needs. The pebble leather and jacquard details are just too cute.
Almost everything from Daily Sleeper is in line with this aesthetic, but this polka dot linen dress is perfectly over the top. How cute is the ruffle detailing on the pockets?
As Blair Waldorf and Eloise have proven, a good headband is an everyday must-have. This pink tweed design is “hand-embellished with navy resin stones and faux pearls.”
12. Floral Rib Blouse Shirt, $26
This pink toile-inspired top also plays into the corset trend that everyone is loving right now. The square neckline and balloon sleeves are super flattering.
