The TikTok algorithm created magic by uniting a prankster with her target.
On Oct. 24, 19-year-old Ohio-based TikToker Amanda Stone created a video explaining that a construction crew was doing noisy work outside her house for weeks. To get back at them, she stole one of their orange traffic cones.
Although she doesn’t think of herself as an artist, Stone painted the traffic cone like Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants. Then, she brought it back to the construction site for the workers to see. The next night, Stone took another cone and painted it like SpongeBob.
Meanwhile, construction worker @mikeyp357 noted on Oct. 24 that he showed up to work one morning, and suddenly there was a Patrick Star cone.
“I literally cannot believe this app just brought me full circle! (Just saw the painter’s video) What a time to be alive!!” a user wrote.
“The algorithm is so perfect! Wait until he sees the SpongeBob one,” a person said.
“POV this came up right after the video of the girl who painted it,” someone added.
Eventually, Stone met up with @mikeyp357 in person. Fortunately, he and his construction company loved the artwork and didn’t see it as vandalism. He even started providing Stone with more traffic cones to paint.
