Tickets for the 2022 N.C. State Fair are on sale now. Here’s what to know.

Get ready, North Carolina. It’s almost time for the 2022 N.C. State Fair, and tickets are on sale now.

While we still have a couple of months before the fair actually begins, you can get a head start on planning your trip by buying tickets — and, by buying them in advance, you’ll save a little money compared to buying them at the fair gates.

So, how do you buy tickets for the fair? How much do tickets cost?

We have the answers to those questions and more.

When is the 2022 NC State Fair?

The 2022 N.C. State Fair will be held Oct. 13-23 at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.

How do I buy tickets to the 2022 NC State Fair?

Tickets to the 2022 N.C. State Fair can be purchased in a few ways.

▪ Tickets are available to be purchased online, in advance from Aug. 15 through Oct. 13. To purchase tickets online, you can visit ncstatefair.org/2022/Visitor/Tickets.htm and click the yellow “Buy Tickets” icon, or visit the link directly at etix.com/ticket/v/1949.

▪ Tickets will also be available to be purchased in person, in advance at various walk-up locations in Raleigh. Tickets purchased in-person at the walk-up locations will offer advance ticket prices.

The walk-up locations and hours to purchase tickets in advance are:

• N.C. State Fairgrounds, Gate 9 (1025 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) — Tickets available at the Raleigh Market on Saturday, Sept. 24, and Sunday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ticket sales will resume Thursday, Sept. 29, and run through Oct. 13. The location will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day during that period.

• N.C. Museum of History (5 E. Edenton St., Raleigh) — Tickets available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday each week, beginning Sept. 29 and through Oct. 13.

• State Farmers Market (1201 Agriculture St., Raleigh) — Ticket available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day from Sept. 29 through Oct. 13. The ticket booth is located between the Farmers Building and Market Shoppes.

▪ If you don’t purchase tickets in advance, you can also purchase them in person at the entry gates of the fair once it begins. Tickets purchased on-site at the fair will be more expensive than those purchased in advance. Gate tickets are available beginning Oct. 14 and will remain available through the end of the fair on Oct. 23.

How much do tickets to the 2022 NC State Fair cost?

State Fair ticket costs vary by when you purchase the ticket — in advance, or in-person at the fair gates. Some discounts are also available for certain groups.

If you buy your tickets in advance — either online or in person at one of the walk-up locations — ticket prices for the 2022 N.C. State Fair are:

▪ Adults (ages 13 to 64): $10 per ticket

▪ Military adult (ages 13 to 64): $8 per ticket. Note: Military tickets are not available to be purchased online, but can be purchased in advance at the in-person walk up ticketing locations in Raleigh.

▪ Youth (ages 6 to 12): $5 per ticket

▪ Children (ages 5 and under): Free

▪ Senior adult (ages 65 and up): $5

Note: Ticket prices include taxes, but if you purchase tickets online, a convenience fee will be applied to each ticket you buy, the State Fair website says.

If you buy your tickets at the entry gates of the fair, the ticket prices are:

▪ Adults (ages 13 to 64): $13 per ticket

▪ Military adult (ages 13 to 64): $8 per ticket. Note: Military tickets are not available to be purchased online, but the discounted rate applies every day at the gates of the fair and in advance at the in-person walk up ticketing locations.

▪ Youth (ages 6 to 12): $7 per ticket

▪ Children (ages 5 and under): Free

▪ Senior adult (ages 65 and up): $5

Note: Gate admission covers only your ticket into the fair, and does not include tickets for attractions such as carnival rides or the State Fair Flyer chair lift.

Group ticket information for the 2022 NC State Fair

If you’re planning to attend the fair with a large group — 40 people or more — group ticketing options are available.

The group ticketing prices for this year are:

▪ Adults: $8 per ticket

▪ Youth: $4 per ticket

Group tickets must be purchased in advance. They will not be available at the gate during the fair.

Are there discounts available for 2022 NC State Fair tickets?

Ticket discounts are available to certain groups and as part of certain promotions at the fair.

▪ Military discount: Active duty service members, reservists, retirees, National Guardsmen and their dependents (ages 13-64) can receive tickets at a discounted rate of $8 per ticket every day of the fair. Veterans are also eligible for this discount for themselves, plus one discounted ticket for a guest or dependent, for a total of two tickets at the reduced rate.

Military tickets must be purchased at the gate or in-person at a walk-up advance ticketing location.

Proper identification is required to receive the military or veteran discount. Acceptable forms of ID for this discount are:

• Valid Uniformed Services ID

• Valid Common Access Card (CAC)

• Valid North Carolina driver’s license with veteran designation

• Valid Veteran’s Affairs Health Identification Card

• Photocopy of valid DD-214 Form

• Photocopy of valid NGB-22 Form

▪ Senior Citizens Day: On Tuesday, Oct. 18, senior adults ages 65 and older can get free admission to the fair.

▪ Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day: On Thursday, Oct. 20, fairgoers who bring six cans of food to the fair gates will be able to enter the fair for free.

How to purchase ride and attraction tickets for 2022 NC State Fair

Tickets for rides and other attractions, including the State Fair Flyer chair lift, are also available to be purchased in advance of the fair online.
