Thor: Ragnarok Is A Road Trip Movie Across The Universe, Explains Mark Ruffalo

Every little thing we hear about ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ increases excitement for the Marvel blockbuster.

Obviously just the thought of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor together again was enough to begin with. But the decisions to hire the magnificent Taiki Waititi (’What We Do In The Shadows’) to direct, and have Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk co-star have made the third ‘Thor’ outing sound simply marvellous.

Mark Ruffalo has continued this delightful trend with the revelation that ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ has been partly inspired by the road movie genre, confirming that Thor and Hulk are like an odd couple. But this time they’re traveling across the universe.

Ruffalo made this admission to Empire, declaring, “There’s a little bit of ‘Midnight Run’, with [Charles] Grodin and [Robert] De Niro. I feel like that’s kind of where we’re heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner.”

When he was asked pointedly if it was a road movie, Ruffalo remarked, “It is a universal road movie – that’s where we’re heading. It’s not where you’d think it will be, so it’s not your classic road move but it has that structure, I think.”

Ruffalo’s use of, “I think,” is rather important, because the ‘Spotlight’ actor, who picked up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination last week for that role, admitted that he hasn’t read the script yet.

Still, he insisted that this is currently the idea of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, while Ruffalo also revealed that ‘Thor 3′ will be much more comedic that you’d expect, and confirmed that Bruce Banner will visit Asgard.

Excited? Thought so. Unfortunately we still have almost two years to wait until ‘Thor: Ragnarok’s’ release, as it’s only scheduled to hit cinemas on October 27, 2017. Until then, you can repeatedly watch ‘Midnight Run’ to whet your appetite.
