Mohanlal is not only the epitome of ageing gracefully but also doing it in style. Let’s not forget the 61-year-old superstar from Kerala is among the highest paid actors in the country. By some accounts, he makes more money than several of the top Bollywood stars. Yet, the Malayalam superstar prefers not to make too much of a big deal about it. He’ll walk out in a simple white shirt (Ramraj Cotton perhaps?) a pair of trousers and comfy chappals underneath and not think twice. Mohanlal’s nonchalance may well be his greatest power move but one particular beast inside his garage comes a close second.

Unlike several millionaires, Mohanlal evidently doesn’t believe in being flashy so he doesn’t roll up in, say, a Bentley or an RR. But when Mohanlal arrives, you know he’s arrived. His Toyota Vellfire makes sure you do.

Toyota Vellfire

The Toyota Vellfire is perhaps one of the rarest cars on Indian roads. In fact, calling it a car is perhaps doing it a disservice because the Vellfire is a tank that could simply crush everything in its path and carry on like nothing’s happened. For all practical purposes, the Toyota Vellfire is an MPV or a Multi-Purpose Vehicle, which (again) is doing it a big disservice because, obviously, you’re not going to roll up in a Vellfire and go shopping for groceries, right? Or maybe you do and that’s cool too.

But the Toyota Vellfire is basically epitome of comfort and luxury. It’s the most expensive Toyota vehicle on Indian roads at the moment and can easily blow a hole of more than a crore in your pocket. But that’s likely loose change for Mohanlal who owns this machine and a few others.

The Toyota Vellfire is essentially a vehicle that’s designed for the person sitting in the middle row. The two extremely comfortable and regal looking captain seats that’d put James T Kirk to shame. It’s the kind of beast you’d expect to see a Russian oligarch emerge out of. Or, you know, an Indian superstar who knows the best way to get your attention is to simply step out of the car. But, really, the Vellfire is the kind of machine you’d prefer if you’re going to be on the road a lot. It’s comfortable, it’s regal, and, importantly, it’s the kind of car a grown-up should be seen in. Not some red Ferrari that screams mid-life crisis.

And that’s the thing about Mohanlal’s garage. All of his cars don’t just suit his personality, they also suit his age and the Toyota Vellfire is just one of them. Here are some other cars in Mohanlal’s garage.

Mercedes Benz GL350

As with the other cars in his garage, Mohanlal’s Mercedes is also an SUV. The GL350 costs about as much as the Vellfire but the Mercedes tag is what sets it apart. This machine is significantly smaller than the Vellfire which also makes it easier to manoeuvre on narrow roads. This robust car is the kind for which you don’t necessarily need a driver and you can take for a spin yourself should you fancy, say, an ice cream in the middle of the night.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

The Toyota Urban Cruiser may not be as imposing as the Vellfire but it’s still the kind of beast that announces your arrival even before you step outside its cool interiors. It’s a favourite among a certain set of people. Politicians, for instance, love the Urban Cruiser just as they love the Toyota Fortuner. As do movie stars. And Mohanlal is no exception.

Lamborghini Urus

Perhaps the most expensive vehicle in Mohanlal’s stable is the Lamborghini Urus. This SUV is particularly popular among those in the showbiz. Rajinikanth owns one, Ranveer Singh owns one as does Karthik Aryan. At a cool ₹3.1 crore ex-showroom, the Lamborghini Urus is the kind of cars that makes heads turn. Its engines fire up to 641 bhp and goes from zero to 100 kph in 3.6 seconds. It also manages to stop rather efficiently, going from 100 to zero within just 33.7 meters. Not that Mohanlal would ever need to do that.
