The Rock won’t rule out running for President in 2020

If there’s one thing that Donald Trump’s rise to become the 45th president of the United States Of America has taught us it’s that any American can become Commander In Chief.

One person whose interest has been piqued by Trump’s ascendancy is none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who has now refused to rule out running for the White House in 2020.

After being quizzed by Vanity Fair about whether he’d consider a campaign in four years time at the Los Angeles premiere for ‘Moana’ over the weekend, The Rock responded, “I wouldn’t rule it out.”

“It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it’s possible. This past election shows that anything can happen.”

This isn’t the first time that The Rock has revealed his interest in politics, though. Back in 2000, when was simply known as a wrestler, he spoke at the Republican National Convention to try and encourage the youth vote.

Even as recently as March of this year The Rock took to Twitter to share an article that highlighted the millions (and millions) of his fans that wanted him to run. Alongside the article The Rock wrote, “Cool piece on why I should run for President. Maybe one day. Surely the White House has a spot for my pick up truck.”

Then in June he again revealed his interest in the position, writing on Instagram, via the Daily Mail, “The idea of one day becoming President to create real positive impact and global change is very alluring.”

Not only has Donald Trump’s triumph made the possibility of a Dwayne Johnson presidency not seem quite so absurd but former wrestler Jesse Ventura’s stint as Governor of Minnesota and actor Ronald Reagan’s own two terms as president in the 1980s adds further weight to his campaign.

Now all he needs is to reveal Stone Cold Steve Austin as his running mate, The Undertaker as Secretary Of State and Kevin Hart as his press secretary and he’ll be a shoo-in.
