The Kid Is Not All Right in First Trailer for Little-Boy-Possessed Movie 'Incarnate' (Exclusive)

“You have an archdemon possessing the body of an innocent 11-year-old boy.” That’s gotta be pretty high up there on the list of the last things any parent of an innocent 11-year-old boy wants to hear. But it makes for a great, time-honored horror movie premise, and now it’s being served with a twist.

In Incarnatewatch the exclusive trailer above—said innocent 11-year-old boy is played by young actor David Mazouz (best known as young Bruce Wayne on TV’s Gotham). When exorcisms on the youngster fail, a mysterious, wheelchair-bound scientist (Aaron Eckhart) is called onto the case.

As he explains, he doesn’t do exorcisms. Instead, he enters the subconscious minds of the possessed and takes the evil spirit on face to face, mano y demon, giving Incarnate a decidedly The Exorcist-meets-The Cell vibe.

Written by Ronnie Christensen (Passengers) and directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas), Incarnate also stars Catalina Moreno (Maria Full of Grace), Carice Van Houten (Game of Thrones), and Emjay Anthony (Chef). The film is produced by horror hitmaker Jason Blum (Insidious, Sinister) for his new multi-platform arm Blumhouse Tilt.

Incarnate opens everywhere Sept. 30.
