The 'Fantastic Beasts' Stars Hint at the Movie's Breakout Creatures

Who will be the Dobby of the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? There are a few contenders for breakout creatures, if the answers from the movie’s cast to our question about their favorite fantastic beast in the film is any indication. (Watch video above).

Eddie Redmayne (who plays Newt Scamander, the Hogwarts textbook author who accidentally lets a suitcase full of creatures loose in 1920s New York) and Katherine Waterston (who plays the socially awkward witch Porpentina) are both partial to the twiggy Bowtruckle, who it’s worth nothing bares a striking resemblance to 2014′s leafy breakout Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy.

“My favorite is the Bowtruckle, and you’d find it in Newt’s pocket,” Waterston said adoringly, to which Redmayne added: “There’s one particular Bowtruckle called Picket who — Newt shouldn’t really have favorites – but he kind of does. And so Picket hangs out in his pocket because he has attachment issues. And I love him.”

There are other creatures in contention, no doubt. Dan Fogler (the baker Jacob Kowalski) picked the “marsupial platypus thing” Niffler and Alison Sudol (Porpentina’s more popular sister Queenie) went with the the long-winged Occamy. But we’ll go with Newt and put our early money on Picket.
