Texas teenager banned indefinitely after brutal stick attack

A high school hockey player has been suspended indefinitely after going absolutely bananas and brutally attacking an opponent with his stick.

The Euless, Texas teenager was caught on video heinously two-hand slashing the defenceless player multiple times in the back following a collision behind the net before an official came charging in to the rescue.

The player being attacked has reportedly escaped serious injury.

This absurd attack happened in the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League, which is sponsored by the NHL’s Dallas Stars and sanctioned by the Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) — an affiliate of USA Hockey.

TAHA President Reggie Hall submitted a statement to WFAA on Tuesday night which reads, in part:

“The Texas Amateur Hockey Association and USA Hockey have worked diligently to make our sport safe and enjoyable for amateur hockey players of all ages. This collective effort has been instrumental in the record growth in our Affiliate over the past six years. We are disturbed by the actions seen on the video from this weekend’s high school game and have taken immediate steps to suspend the offending player indefinitely pending a disciplinary hearing in January.”

The Grapevine/Colleyville player who delivered the slashes was given a match penalty and subsequently received an indefinite ban from USA Hockey.
