One day before the start of the World Series, the Texas Rangers Grand Slam Team Store at Globe Life Field was filled with fans looking for the latest Rangers gear.
Fans were buying playoff merchandise and jerseys ahead of the team’s World Series matchup with the Diamondbacks. First pitch is Friday at 7:03 p.m.
“Oh my god it’s been chaos,” store employee Dominque Lewis said on Thursday. “They want anything with the World Series on it.”
Lewis, who has worked at the store for five years, said he’s never seen this type of energy.
“This the most busiest and most exciting it has been and I’m really here for it,” said Lewis.
Kyle Rosen, a long-time fan of the Rangers who cited Evan Carter and Adolis Garcia as his favorite players, was overjoyed when the Rangers rallied to win the American League Championship Series. He was one of hundreds of fans who ventured to Globe Life Field to grab the World Series memorabilia.
Anything with “Adolis Garcia” was a hot seller.
“I wanna say [Adolis Garcia] jerseys and the red and blue World Series hats, they are selling out like hotcakes,” said Lewis.
Fans looking to purchase an Adolis Garcia jersey will have to pay $175 for a standard edition and $185 for a World Series edition. The World Series Rangers hats vary from $40-56$. Non Rangers World Series hats are between $50-$52.
Lewis said he was partial to the multi-colored Rangers jackets because of their outfit utility and ability to match any of the Rangers hats.
Rangers fans buying ALCS or playoff shirts were paying anywhere between $48 and $55 with hoodies going between $105 and $115 depending on the hoodie’s manufacturer.
Fans looking for knick knacks like World Series mugs, shot glasses and tumblers can expect to pay $24, $8 and $32 respectively.
Rebekah Dugger was with her son Brayden were at the team store to complete a Halloween costume.
“So when he [Brayden] heard they were going to the World Series he decided he needed to be a Texas Ranger for Halloween. So we came over to get the gear so he’s ready for Halloween. My husband, we had to come get him a World Series shirt and a World Series hat, everything we could think of,” said Rebekah Dugger.
In the store youth playoff shirts start at $42 with youth jerseys costing $105.
The Duggers are die-hard Texas Rangers fans and know moments like this don’t come around often.
“We’re born and raised her so we’ve been fans all our life, we’re incredibly excited,” said the elder Dugger.
“They don’t go to the World Series a lot so it’s a big deal,” said Brayden.
Brayden is excited about his Halloween costume and is dressing up as Corey Seager who is his favorite player. The Duggers are ready for the World Series to begin and said they’re sure the Rangers will bring home the victory.
