Texas is forcing women to give birth, so it better force the men to pay up, too

Men should have to pony up

Now that Texas women will be forced to bear children they might not be able to afford or care for, how is the state going to make sure the father bears half the responsibility?

Men need to give DNA samples, and all newborns should be tested for paternity. Then, fathers can have child support deducted from their wages.

If men were the ones who get pregnant, abortion would be available everywhere and covered by insurance.

Justices rule on their personal beliefs

How can the Supreme Court rule according to the justices’ personal beliefs and party affiliations rather than the rule of law? How can it be that six of nine justices can rule that carrying a gun is a right and that women lack the right to control what happens to their own bodies?

The American people do not have any say in this because the justices are appointed for life. We all deserve better.

Shooting victims, fetuses the same

There has been so much outrage over every school shooting because so many young, innocent lives were snuffed out. Fetuses are human beings in the womb. Please tell me the difference betweensnuffing out innocent lives in a shooting and aborting a viable fetus.

The Roe decision was based on a woman’s right to privacy. If a mother gives birth to a child then kills it, does the law allow that under the right to privacy?

The right to privacy is in the Constitution, but the right to an abortion is not.

‘Pro-life’ only until birth is over

The reversal of Roe v. Wade has nothing to do with the idea of being pro-life. It is all about power and control. Pro-lifers fight with the same passion they fight against Roe when it comes to minimum-wage increases, food subsidies, childcare credits, education and health care spending, housing subsidies and anything else that helps low-income individuals.

In other words: Once all of you little saved fetuses get here, you are on your own. Good luck, you are going to need it.

Biden’s gas priorities backward

President Joe Biden wants to suspend federal taxes to reduce gas prices. The average price of a gallon in Fort Worth is $4.75, so a 15-gallon fill-up costs $71.25. The federal tax rate is 18.4 cents per gallon. Would saving $2.76 really ease the pain at the pump?

Basic economics says that price is controlled by supply and demand. Demand is not going away. The only way to effectively lower gas prices is to increase supply. You can beg the Saudis, Iranians and Venezuelans to produce more. But a better way would be to approve more oil leases, open pipelines and scale back regulations on producers.

Can somebody please explain this to the president?

Ted Cruz thinks this is funny?

In what world does Sen. Ted Cruz live? On June 23, Cruz said the Jan. 6 committee is a joke. How can anyone watch these hearings and not realize how close our country came to a subversion of our democracy under the leadership of then-President Donald Trump?

If that is a joke, I wonder what Cruz would say if the scheme had been successful.
