Texas Artist Creates Rice-Art Portrait of Milwaukee Bucks Champion Giannis Antetokounmpo

A Texas-based artist created a portrait of Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo out of rice grains and shared her creation on TikTok.

In the video, artist Alissa Teo is seen carefully assembling the rice-art mural before tossing it up in the air and watching the player come to life as the rice grains fall back onto the board.

Speaking to Storyful, Teo said that she dyes all of the rice herself using vinegar and food coloring. Once the rice is dry, she sketches out the picture she plans to create and then lays the rice out strategically onto the board. Once it is completed, she records the tossup video.

“To inspire, encourage, and brighten someone’s day is why I do what I do,” Teo said.

While Teo said she filmed the portrait on July 3, in response to a TikTok comment from the Milwaukee Bucks, she reposted the video on July 21 after the Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns in the NBA playoffs the night before.
