Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: What We Know So Far

It’s not in cinemas for almost a year, but there’s already plenty worth knowing about the follow-up to the latest incarnation of the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’.

Who’s behind it, is it another Michael Bay production?

‘Earth to Echo’s’ Dave Green is directing this time, instead of Jonathan Liebesman, with Michael Bay still firmly on producing duties.

Like the first, Paramount Pictures are the production company behind the project, and are likely to pump the same ($125 million), if not more, budget into it as they did the 2014 film.

What’s it all about this time?

Allegedly titled ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell’ , details on the film’s plot are still vague, but we’ve so far learned that it’ll likely be set in Nee York, which is where a lot of the filming has taken place.

The new faces that join the TMNT world are all we’ve got to base a possible plot on, but no doubt it’ll be some evil plan the Shredder puts into place.

Which characters are returning?

There are a number of returning actors to the fray. These include Megan Fox as nosey reporter April O’ Neil, Will Arnett’s Vern, as well as first film villain Eric Sacks played by William Fichtner.

Tony Shalhoub is back as Splinter, along with the original four who mo-capped the heroes in a half-shell, with Johnny Knoxville back to provide the voice of Leonardo.

Brian Tee returns as the formidable Shredder, who’ll no doubt be at the centre of all the chaos.

Who are the new faces entering the TMNT world?

The new characters are perhaps the most intriguing information we have. Bebop and Rocksteady, played by Gary Anthony Williams and WWE wrestler Sheamus.

Stephen Amell débuts as the renegade Casey Jones, with Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman. Both these characters should be great additions.

Super model Alessandra Ambrosio will feature head-to-head with Fox, who will appear as Vern’s new girlfriend. Will the two come to loggerheads over Arnett’s bumbling cameraman?

The rumours…

The biggest one is that Krang will make an appearance. Reports suggest a scene has been filmed with a group of extras and an inter-dimensional portal. We all know that the Dimension-X warlord makes his way to Earth via such methods, so fingers crossed we’ll get to see him in all his CGI glory…

So when’s it in cinemas?

Even before the first TMNT movie came out here in the UK, the sequel had already been confirmed, with a 3 June, 2016 release.
