Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis found dead at 65, son charged with murder

Gord Lewis, founding member and lead guitarist of Canadian band Teenage Head, was found dead Sunday after allegedly being killed by his son.

Lewis' death was ruled a homicide by Canada's Hamilton Police Service, who on Sunday received intel that emails were sent to several Canadian media outlets about a "deceased person." On Monday, authorities announced they arrested the guitarist's son, Jonathan Lewis, 41, on second-degree murder in connection with the death and are not "not seeking additional suspects," according to a press release.

Hamilton police found Lewis' body in his residence with "injuries consistent with foul play." He was 65.

Police weren't able to fully identify Lewis' body early in the investigation "due to the level of decomposition." On Wednesday, police confirmed the deceased person was Lewis.

Lewis was "the victim of the city’s most recent homicide," police said, noting he was an "inspiring musician" born and raised in Hamilton, a city in Canada's Ontario province.

Teenage Head was formed in the '70s by Lewis, lead singer Frankie Venom, Steve Mahon and Nick Stipanitz, according to The Hamilton Spectator. The band produced several studio albums throughout the '70s and '80s with the most recent project "Teenage Head with Marky Ramone" being released in 2008.

The band's Instagram page made a touching tribute to the founding guitarist on Monday remembering him as "a force and an inspiration" alongside a picture of the punk rocker.

"We are heartbroken and still trying to process the loss of our friend, bandmate and brother Gord Lewis," the caption read. "Our hearts are with his family and all that knew and loved him ... You were taken from us far too soon."
