Teen accused of fatally stabbing pregnant woman after argument at party, CA cops say

A 16-year-old girl is accused of stabbing and killing a pregnant woman after an argument at a house party, California police said.

Officers arrived at the Lodi home to find Jessie Martinez, 25, who was about four months pregnant, with a stab wound shortly after midnight on Sunday, Sept. 25, the Lodi Police Department said on Facebook.

“Despite life-saving measures,” according to police, both she and the unborn child died.

“The case is being investigated as a double homicide,” Lodi police said.

Martinez was remembered as a “very kind-hearted and giving person,” who “would help anyone she could,” according to a GoFundMe set up for her family.

Martinez, a “kind-hearted, loving mother,” a family member wrote on Facebook, “leaves behind a 2-year-old son and devoted father/boyfriend.”

Her boyfriend, 22, who was the “unborn child’s father,” was also cut on his face during the incident, officials said. He was taken to the hospital but has “since been released.”

Lodi police said the attack “stemmed from a series of altercations that occurred during a house party” at Martinez’s home “the same night.”

The teen was arrested and is facing a murder charge, police said.

Lodi is about 35 miles southeast of Sacramento.
