TCU football moves up to No. 3 in major football polls

TCU finally moved up in both major college football polls after finishing the regular season 12-0 with a 62-14 win over Iowa State Saturday.

The Horned Frogs jumped to No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Sports AFCA coaches poll. Previous No. 2 Ohio State was smoked by No. 3 Michigan on Saturday to open the door for TCU to move up.

The Wolverines moved to No. 2 behind Georgia. USC moved up to No. 4 while Ohio State landed at No. 5.

It’s likely the next release of the College Football Playoff Top 25 will have a similar top five. All the top four teams control their own destinies and play in their respective conference championship games on Saturday.

Georgia will face LSU, Michigan will play Purdue and USC will get a rematch with Utah. The Horned Frogs will look to beat Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game Saturday at AT&T Stadium. The Wildcats were 13th in the AP poll and No. 10 in the coaches poll.

TCU beat Kansas State 38-28 on Oct. 22.
