TCU football coach Patterson updated the injury status on several players

Nobody within the TCU football program is questioning the toughness of quarterback Max Duggan. He had a career day at Oklahoma last weekend, despite playing through a broken bone in his foot.

As right tackle Andrew Coker said, “He’s our heartbeat for sure. He’s the one who makes this team go. You see some guys out there who are battling through injuries and being sore and stuff like that, but that guy is playing on a broken foot. And he’s a quarterback, the most important position on the field.”

Well, the good news for the Frogs is that Duggan is “probable” to play against West Virginia on Saturday. Coach Gary Patterson provided a number of injury updates, starting with Duggan and running back Zach Evans being probable for Saturday.

Duggan was 20-of-30 passing for a career-high 346 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions against OU. He also rushed for 45 yards on eight carries.

Evans, meanwhile, sat out last week at OU with a foot injury, although the running back corps still managed to rush for 183 yards on 37 carries. On the season, Evans has a team-leading 586 yards rushing and five touchdowns.

Patterson initially listed cornerback Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson as “probable” although later said he may be more “questionable.” Tomlinson missed the second half of the OU game with an undisclosed injury.

On the bright side, Patterson said the secondary could see cornerback Noah Daniels return. Daniels suited up for the OU game, but didn’t see the field. Daniels was projected as one of the top NFL Draft prospects on the roster going into the season, but has been limited to one game this season.

Among the players expected to still be out include wide receiver JD Spielman, and safeties Bud Clark and Deshawn McCuin.

TCU (3-3, 1-2 Big 12) and WVU (2-4, 0-3) are scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
