TCU to face Michigan in College Football Playoffs

TCU will play for the national college football championship.

The College Football Committee announced Sunday that TCU is one of the four playoff teams and will compete in the semifinals on New Year’s Eve.

The third-seeded Horned Frogs will face the second-seeded Michigan Wolverines in the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix on Dec. 31.

The top-seeded and defending champion Georgia Bulldogs will play fourth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 31.

The two winners will meet in the national championship game at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Jan. 9.

The official announcement was made on ESPN this morning.

TCU finished the regular season with a 12-1 record, falling on Saturday 31-28 in overtime in the Big 12 championship game at AT&T Stadium. Some pundits projected the Horned Frogs (12-1) would fall out of the final four with the loss. In the end, the CFP committee picked the four teams with the best records. Georgia (13-0) and Michigan (13-0) are unbeaten, TCU and Ohio State (11-1) have only one loss.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
