TCU coach Sonny Dykes is the Walter Camp 2022 Football Bowl Subdivision Coach of Year.

In his first year, Dykes led the Horned Frogs to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. TCU was picked to finish seventh in the Big 12 a year after they were 5-7 and 3-6 in the conference.

Under Dykes, the Horned Frogs had one of the best offenses in the country behind quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Max Duggan. The defense also improved in Dykes’ first year.

The award is selected by the nation’s 131 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. Former TCU coach Gary Patterson won the award in 2009 and 2014. Dykes was the unanimous Big 12 Coach of the Year. TCU has given him a raise and contract extension through 2028.
