Taylor Swift denies being warned about derogatory lyrics in Kanye West's song 'Famous'

A representative for Taylor Swift says that the singer was unaware that Kanye West included derogatory lyrics about her in his new song "Famous." The rapper name-checked the super star when he premiered his new album The Life of Pablo during the presentation of his Yeezy 3 collection at New York Fashion Week. In the song, Kanye claims to have made Taylor famous.

TMZ reports that the father of two called the "Shake It Off" singer last month to give her a heads-up about the song — but that's not true, according to her rep.

Taylor Swift cautioned Kanye West over the 'strong misogynistic message' in Famous

"Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single 'Famous' on her Twitter account," the singer's spokesperson said in a statement to People. "She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyrics, 'I made that b**** famous.'"

Taylor has yet to respond via her Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr or Twitter accounts – but those closest to her have quickly rallied around.

Her younger brother Austin Swift was the first to comment, sharing a video of himself throwing his Yeezy trainers into the bin. "Getting a head start on some spring cleaning," he wrote in the caption. "Here we go again."

Model Gigi Hadid, who famously appeared in Taylor's Bad Blood video and is a member of her girl squad, was at the Yeezy show on Thursday. "My attendance somewhere does not mean I agree with everything being said in the music being played there," she later stated. "My friends know my loyalty."

Jaime King, who asked Taylor to be godmother to her son Leo, deleted her Instagram posts about Yeezy Season 3 after hearing the Famous lyrics. "I'm so sad right now & disappointed right now," she tweeted. "I stand by my sister. Always."
