Talking Preps NC: The NCHSAA state finals preview show

This week, Talking Preps has an extensive state championship preview show. On tap:

▪ Chambers High star defensive end James Pearce stops by to talk Saturday’s state championship game against Cardinal Gibbons, and to take on coach Greiner on ‘The Game Show.’

▪ We’ll review and discuss the finalists for the state’s biggest award, Mr. Football: Rolesville QB Byrum Brown, Cleveland running back Omarion Hampton and Chambers running back Daylan Smothers. The winner will be announced on “Talking Preps OT” Wednesday night at 8.

▪ We reveal the top performers statewide from last week, the Grice’s Gems: Chambers’ Pearce, Shelby’s Jaden Pierce, Wallace-Rose Hill’s Kanye Roberts, Greensboro Dudley’s Mekhi Wall and JH Rose’s Michael Allen.

▪ Grice and Chris introduce four new “Fresh Faces” -- South Garner’s Jordan Reid, Hendersonville’s Lennard Bennefield, Mitchell’s Ty Turbyfill and Christ School’s Cayden Jones.

▪ Gibbons defensive coordinator Nick Drew stops by to talk about how to slow down Chambers offense, fresh after wins over Rolesville and Cleveland en route to the finals.

▪ The guru, Chris Hughes, will break down each state championship game and we’ve got interview segments with all eight coaches. Chris will also update the state rankings going into the weekend’s final games.

▪ And we’ve got two Coach vs. Coach segments: Grice and Greiner talking Shrine Bowl, spring football and SC vs NC; plus Alex takes on Grice in a special segment as each guy defends his turf in the N.C. 4A title game.
