The Merc with a Mouth will have plenty of crime-fighting company in Deadpool 2. Star Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter today to announce that Zazie Beetz, who plays Donald Glover’s ex-girlfriend/baby-mama on the hit FX comedy Atlanta, has joined the cast as fellow mutant mercenary Domino. Domino first popped up in Marvel comic books in the early 1990s.
For a movie anchored by one of the most popular X-Men ever, Logan — Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine swan song — is hijacked by the littlest mutant of ’em all: Laura, aka X-23. Played by newcomer Dafne Keen, the pint-sized dynamo has been a fan favorite during her relatively short tenure in the comics, but Laura is an unknown quantity to mainstream moviegoers. With Logan opening in theaters this weekend, we thought we’d offer a brief introduction to the character of X-23 and how she might fit into the X-Men cinematic universe going forward.
There have been a lot of problems with ‘Deadpool 2’ over the last few weeks. Not just that, but it’s also been reported that the third solo instalment for the character will see him pair up with another team from the ‘X-Men’ franchise, X-Force. The X-Force are a more aggressive and militant version of the X-Men, and their ensemble has in the past included Psylocke, who was played by Olivia Munn in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, as well as Deadpool, Domino and Cable, both of whom are already confirmed for ‘Deadpool 2’.
