Ryan Gosling Talks 'Blade Runner 2049' Atmosphere: Set Felt Like 'a Living, Breathing Universe'

“I’m not even sure if I’m allowed to say I had a good time making it,” Gosling told Yahoo Movies Monday night at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, a line he repeated an hour or so later as Sony Pictures unveiled a new trailer for the film at its opening night showcase. While Gosling wouldn’t say anything about his new blade runner Officer K, who eventually links up with Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) 30 years after the events of the original, he will marvel at the scope and detail of what is arguably the biggest movie spectacle the Drive and La La Land star has yet made.

Ryan Gosling Thanks Debbie Reynolds for Being an 'Inspiration' for 'La La Land'

Ryan Gosling thanked the late Debbie Reynolds for being an inspiration for La La Land during the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Monday. While accepting the Vanguard Award on behalf of the cast and crew at the annual film awards gala, the actor, who stars as jazz pianist Sebastian in the critically acclaimed Los Angeles-set musical, paid tribute to Reynolds, who died Dec. 28, and her 1952 classic Singin’ in the Rain. “I wish I could have said this in person, but I’d like to thank Debbie Reynolds for her wonderful career of work,” Gosling, who was joined on stage by La La Land director Damien Chazelle and composer Justin Hurwitz, said to applause.

10 crazy reasons films got sued

If you went into the 2011 Ryan Gosling film expecting a pedal-to-the-metal action flick, you were probably disappointed, even if the resulting drama was still one of the best movies that year. Investment banker Andrew Greene sued the Scorsese movie for using his likeness in a character called Nicky Koskoff, played by actor P.J. O’Byrne, who’s one of Jordan Belfort’s (Leonardo Di Caprio) greedy, amoral trader posse.

The new musical La La Land came into this year’s Toronto Film Festival on a wave of good vibes, having already collected enthusiastic reviews at the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals. Writer-director Damien Chazelle’s modern-day romance reteams Crazy, Stupid, Love costars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in a tale that’s a jazzy love letter to Los Angeles and the entertainment industry. It’s a spectacular achievement by Chazelle, who broke out last year with his Oscar-winning drama Whiplash.

9 Movie Couples Who Hated Each Other In Real Life

Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams – ‘The Notebook’ (2004) Theirs is one of contemporary cinema’s most celebrated romances, complete with that iconic scene of them smooching in the rain. Upsettingly for fans of 'The Notebook’, the relationship between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams was stormy off screen too. Gosling allegedly asked director Nick Cassavetes to replace McAdams with another actress after shooting had begun, and Cassavetes recalls walking into a room to find the pair screaming at each other at the top of their voices. Of course, Ryan and Rachel went on to be one of the cutest couples in Hollywood, which just goes to show how accurate that terrible 'opposites attract’ romcom cliché can be.

Cannes Report: 'The Nice Guys' Stars Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe Are Having a Blast in 1970s L.A.

Director Shane Black’s loose, rambunctious new comedy-mystery The Nice Guys is set in Los Angeles in the 1970s, but the vibe of the movie is distinctly ‘80s. A throwback to that decades’ famed buddy thrillers like Lethal Weapon (which Black wrote) and 48HRS, it serves up lots of banter, bare breasts, and beatdowns, with rumpled, relaxed performances from leading men Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, who make you want to hang out even when the gags don’t always stick. The movie had a press screening at Cannes on Sunday morning, ahead of the Sunday night premiere. (It opens in theaters on May 18. ...

Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, and Ryan Gosling — with those names getting top billing (in the exclusive poster above), you might think they’re the leads in a Legends of the Fall sequel. But no, the three heartthrob actors are seriously subverting their sex appeal in The Big Short, about a group of obscure finance guys who saw the credit and housing bubble collapse of the 2000s coming from miles away. Also starring Steve Carell and an ensemble that includes Oscar winners Marisa Tomei and Melissa Leo, the film marks a departure for director Adam McKay, best known for slapstick comedies Anchorman and Step Brothers. But, as McKay told Yahoo Movies in September, he geeked out on the material, based on the best-selling nonfiction book by Michael Lewis, who also wrote the true tale that became Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side.

Ryan Gosling to Star in ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

The actor/director, who last week confirmed to Yahoo Movies his likely involvement in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of the Disney ride The Haunted Mansion, is close to joining the cast of the long-awaited sequel for Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic, Blade Runner. The film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners), based on a script by original screenwriter Hampton Francher and Michael Green. The story takes place several decades after the original film, and will be the latest franchise — after Indiana Jones and now Star Wars — that brings back Ford to play the same character many years later.
