    Sony is taking on Disney with its own Mulan movie and has hired Game of Thrones’ Alex Graves to direct

    ‘Game of Thrones’ director Alex Graves has been hired to helm an upcoming live action 'Mulan’ movie, but it’s not the one you think it is. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Alex Graves will direct from a script written by 'Mirror Mirror’s Jason Keller, and that the film will be a Chinese co-production.

    Matt Damon made an appearance at New York Comic-Con this week to promote his latest movie, ‘The Great Wall’, where the discussion about its whitewashing inevitably arose. The film, an epic action-adventure around the mysteries of The Great Wall of China, has been accused of whitewashing the story and elements of history by using Damon’s Caucasian character as the saviour.

    Disney's live action Mulan remake gets 2018 release as search for Chinese lead begins

    Walt Disney Pictures has officially announced a live action remake of 1998 animated feature ‘Mulan’ for release in late 2018. In a press release Disney also announced the start of a global casting search for a Chinese actress to star in the title role. 'Mulan’ will be released in 3D on 2 November 2018 (via Variety), the same month as Warner Bros sequel to 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’ and Disney animation 'Gigantic’.

    90,000 People Are Trying To Stop Mulan Whitewashing Before It Happens

    90,000 people have already signed an online document aimed at Disney, ahead of its plans to make a live-action movie of its classic animation ‘Mulan’. “Mulan was based on a Chinese legend, the story of Fa/Hua Mu Lan, in which a young girl disguises herself as a man to serve as a soldier in the battle against an invasion launched by the Huns,” reads a statement accompanying the signatures.
