Taco Bell is bringing another favorite back — and fans get to decide which one

Taco Bell is ready to bring back another beloved menu item. And this time, it’s letting customers choose which one.

The “crunch powerhouse” Double Decker Taco will face off against the “saucy one-of-a-kind” Enchirito to win a spot on the menu at participating locations, according to a Sept. 27 news release.

From Sept. 27 until Oct. 6, rewards members can vote daily via the Taco Bell app for their choice, the release says. The winner will be revealed Oct. 7 and will join the menu at participating locations at a later date.

The vote comes after Taco Bell permanently reintroduced its popular Mexican Pizza Sept. 15.

“On the heels of the love and passion we saw for Mexican Pizza, we wanted to continue elevating the voices of our most loyal fans by giving them exclusive access to a uniquely digital experience that fosters brand love,” Taco Bell’s Chief Brand Officer, Sean Trevsant, said. “Nobody gets Taco Bell more than our community so we’re thrilled to empower them with this in-app voting experience that allows them to have a direct impact on our menu.”

Now, the chain is looking to bring back two of its “most requested menu items.”

The Double Decker Taco was first introduced in 1995 as a limited time menu item. It became a permanent fixture in 2006 and spent 13 years on the menu before being discontinued in 2019, according to the fast-food chain.

The Enchirito “has an even longer love story,” Taco Bell says. First introduced in 1970, the Enchirito stayed on the menu until 2013 and “was one of the first bold innovations that demonstrated Taco Bell’s drive for Mexican-inspired fusion.”
