Russian economy grew by 4.1% in 2024, slightly exceeding forecasts, PM tells Putin
Russia's economy grew by 4.1% in 2024, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told President Vladimir Putin on Friday, slightly better than an official forecast of 3.9%. The country's gross domestic product reached a record-high of 200 trillion roubles ($2.06 trillion), Mishustin told Putin at the meeting, which was broadcast on state TV. Putin welcomed the results, saying they were "good" and "satisfactory", but restated his wish for inflation to drop from its elevated level of 9.5% in 2024.

Iran's supreme leader said Friday that negotiations with America “are not intelligent, wise or honorable” after President Donald Trump floated nuclear talks with Tehran. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also suggested that “there should be no negotiations with such a government,” but stopped short of issuing a direct order not to engage with Washington. Khamenei's remarks upend months of signals from Tehran to the United States that it wanted to negotiate over its rapidly advancing nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of crushing economic sanctions worth billions of dollars.

Accenture, which hires extensively from India, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. The report also quoted Sweet as saying that the change followed an "evaluation of our internal policies and practices and the evolving landscape in the United States, including recent executive orders with which we must comply".

Paula Roberts left her son Charlie, aged one year and 10 months, in the care of her partner Christopher Stockton at her Darlington home while she went for an eye test, Teesside Crown Court heard. Within minutes of her leaving, Stockton called 999 to report the toddler had gone "floppy".
