Suspect Detained After Shots Fired at Canberra Airport

One person was detained at Canberra Airport following reports of gunshots in the main terminal building on Sunday afternoon, August 14, the Australian Federal Police said.

The AFP said the person was “believed to be the only person responsible” for the incident and that there were no reported injuries.

“The Canberra Airport terminal was evacuated as a precaution and the situation at the Airport is contained,” the AFP said in a statement. “ACT Policing requires members of the public to not attend the Airport at this time.”
