Model Naomi Campbell has become a mother.

The 50-year-old shared the news in an Instagram post, writing alongside a picture of her hand cradling a baby's feet: "A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother, So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love."

The new mum gave no further details in the post but tagged her own mother, Valerie Morris-Campbell.

Many of the supermodel’s famous friends congratulated her on the good news.

British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful said: “Seeing the two of you together made my year. You will bring each other so much joy.”

Actress Zoe Saldana wrote: “oh my goodness congrats lady! What a blessing!!!”

Designer Marc Jacobs commented: “Oh my God!!!! Today is the day?? How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful mother you will be. Blessings all around.”

It is not known if Ms Campbell is currently in a relationship.

She previously enjoyed a two-month romance with Liam Payne back in 2019 and she also reportedly dated rapper Skepta.

She has not confirmed or denied the romances.

The south London-born model previously said she would “think about having children all the time” but wasn’t planning to rush herself to start a family.

Speaking to ES Magazine in 2017, she said: “I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.’

Asked if she would have the child herself rather than adopt, she replied: “Maybe. Maybe... Maybe.”

However, in 2019 she told the Wall Street Journal that she wasn’t ready to become a mum, adding that she has surrounded herself with a “chosen family” for now.

Ms Campbell will celebrate her 51st birthday on May 22.
